Associate of Arts in Paraprofessional Education at University of Phoenix
The University of Phoenix offers an Associate of Arts in Paraprofessional Education. This program is offered on line and covers education as a topic in its own right. The historic context of public education will be examined. The philosophic matrix in which the contemporary educational system arose is a major theme of the program. An understanding of contemporary educational theory is balanced with pragmatic studies of child development and classroom tasks. A student graduating with an AA in Paraprofessional Education is prepared to enter the workplace with a broad background in the philosophies and methods of the educational field. Completion of the program will prepare paraprofessionals to pass certification tests which are required by some states. The training for a paraprofessional is designed to prepare a graduate to work with administrators, teachers and students in diverse settings to support instructors, assist in classroom management and monitor activities such as tests or special projects.
