Alliant International University

Alliant International University is private non-profit higher education institution based out of San Diego, California. It focuses on preparing individuals for professional careers in the applied social sciences fields. The university is well regarded for its graduate level training programs in psychology and other related fields and faculty members of all programs abide by high levels of academic excellence. Various faculty members are also recognized worldwide for research that helps improve the lives of many different people such as teachers improving their classrooms or corporate employees adapting to changes.

Alliant International University Online is committed to providing students with all aspects of quality education in a flexible learning environment. It adheres to the necessary standards to ensure students receive excellent distance learning programs. It offers online courses and all students have access to the e-learning portal for online courses, distance education courses, and web-supported courses. Alliant Online offers courses through video conferencing to accommodate the various learning styles and educational needs of both undergraduate and graduate students. Students are able to complete their program from anywhere with an Internet connection while receiving individual attention. Alliant Online offers a variety of courses for various programs and a completely online Master of Arts in Education: Teaching program. Non-degree students are also able to take online courses with special permission.

In 2001, the California School of Professional Psychology and United States International University joined to establish Alliant International University. The California School of Professional Psychology was founded in 1969 and it was the first professional school of clinical psychology and is currently the largest in the nation. The United States International University has history in the San Diego area for nearly 50 years and it was ranked as one of the top three universities in the U.S. with the most international students. Today, Alliant International University enrolls approximately 3,700 students.

Schools Of Education

California School of Professional Psychology: dedicated to providing students with an educational experience that combines classroom instruction and application of knowledge in field settings. Offers graduate programs in clinical counseling, clinical psychology, marital and family therapy, counseling psychology, organizational psychology, and clinical psychopharmacology and certificate programs in chemical dependency, gerontology, applied behavior analysis, infant-preschoolers mental health, LGBT human services and mental health, and Latin American family therapy.

California School of Forensic Studies: committed to providing education and training in forensic psychology and related areas to prepare students for professional practice, research, teaching, and community service in clinical and private settings in a diverse international society. Offers doctoral degree programs in forensic psychology (clinical) and forensic psychology (non-clinical with focus on public policy and law).

Shirley Hufstedler School of Education: strives to provide educators with the necessary tools to make a significant difference in the educational field. Offers a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies for education and graduate programs in school psychology, teaching, educational administration, teaching English to speakers of other languages, educational leadership and management, and educational psychology. It also offers teaching credentials and certificates and international programs.

Marshall Goldsmith School of Management: committed to promoting diversity and inclusion that promotes professional networking and personal relationships. Offers undergraduate completion degrees in business administration, international relations, integrated marketing communication, and international business administration; certificate programs in business management, e-business, global management, and strategic management; and graduate programs in business administration, international business administration, international relations, and leadership.

San Francisco Law School: committed to providing education to mature working adults and features flexible schedules. Offers a Juris Doctorate program.

Financing Options

Alliant International University participates in various financial aid programs including the Federal Pell Grant Cal Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, Academic Competitiveness Grant, National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent (SMART) Grant, Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant, Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnership (LEAP), Federal Direct Stafford Subsidized Loan, Federal Direct Stafford Unsubsidized Loan, and Federal Work Study. The university also offers deferred payment plans and loan forgiveness programs.

Credit Earning Options

Alliant International University grants transfer credits to previous coursework completed at another accredited institution. Undergraduate students can transfer up to 138-quarter units or 90 semester hours and graduate students can transfer a maximum of 40-quarter units or 30 semester hours. All graduate courses must have a grade of a B or better. The university also grants credits for the College Level Examination Program (CLEP), Advanced Placement (AP) Examinations, military experience, and extension courses completed at regionally accredited institutions. Students are able to receive up to 27 semester credits for military experience and 20 semester credits for extension courses. Official transcripts are required for all transfer credit
