AmeriTech College is a private for-profit health career-focused training school. It is exclusively owned and operated by IQU Corporation. The college focuses on providing technical education to students seeking to rapidly enter the work force. It also concentrates on offering continuing education for individuals working in the health care field. The mission of AmeriTech College is to provide quality education and training to provide students with the necessary knowledge, abilities, and characteristics to become competent professionals in the health care field. It strives to provide the best possible education to its students through an innovative educational format that delivers a hands-on learning approach to enable students to gain an insight of real world work environments.

AmeriTech College provides comprehensive programs that include in-depth study and focus on the modern abilities required for specific careers. It provides instruction on affiliated professional, business, and ethical standards. It strives to provide an instructional environment that encourages lifelong learning. Faculty and staff members are committed to supporting the learning process and personal development of all students. All faculty members are high qualified and have significant experience in professional areas.

AmeriTech College offers non-degree diplomas of completion in vocational health areas and an Associate of Science in Medical Billing and Coding and an Associate of Science in Nursing. Various courses and the Medical Billing and Coding associate degree and diploma programs are offered online. Online courses are offered in an asynchronous distance education delivery format. The online environment promotes participation and interaction between students and instructors.

The online medical billing and coding programs provide instruction on how to input patient information for billing and coding purposes. Students learn medical terminology and how it related to billing and coding procedures and how to use medical software. The associate degree requires 60.5 semester credit hours completed in approximately 75 weeks and the diploma program requires 43 semester credit hours completed in approximately 55 weeks. Both programs require general education courses and medical billing and coding core courses. Graduates of both programs are eligible to take national certification examinations to become certified.

Various programs require clinical experiences and externship opportunities at nearby health care facilities to enable students to observe and apply skills learned in programs courses. Students completing clinical experiences and externships are under constant supervision of instructors or experienced professionals.

AmeriTech College provides assistance to graduating students with securing a job. Directors of programs maintain close communication with potential employers and stay current on job postings. Placement assistance is complimentary to current and graduating students.

Dorthea and Keith Van Soest founded AmeriTech College in1979 as The American Institute of Medical Dental Technology, Inc in Provo, Utah. Connie and Steve Garland bought the school and took over its operation in 1997. Over time the school expanded and opened an additional campus in Draper, Utah. The new campus was the main location for the nursing program that was established in 2006. The school’s named changed to AmeriTech College in 2006, to better demonstrate its increased scope of training. The school was purchased by IQU Corporation in 2007.

Accreditation

The Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) accredits AmeriTech College to grant non-degree and diploma programs and the Associate of Applied Science in Nursing. Additional programs have programmatic accreditation by an accrediting organization that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and/or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. The Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association accredits the dental assistant program. The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredits the surgical technologist program. The nursing program has recently gained accreditation from the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC).

Scholarships Offered

AmeriTech College offers scholarships to high school students that can be applied to allied health programs including medical assisting, dental assisting, dental lab technician, and medical dental office management. It also accepts all valid outside scholarships.

Financing Options

AmeriTech College offers financial aid to applicants who qualify. It participates in various federal financial aid programs such as the Federal Pell Grant, ACG Grant, Federal Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Stafford Loans, and Federal PLUS Loans for Parents. It accepts Veteran’s Affairs Educational Benefits, SLM Career Training Loans, Key Career Loan, and Key Alternative Loan. It also offers various payment options including paying by major credit cards. Students seeking financial aid must complete student loan entrance counseling prior to beginning classes.

Credit Earning Options

AmeriTech College grants transfer credits for courses completed at other accredited institutions of higher education. Students must submit an official transcript, proof of applicable course content, dates of attendance, and performance in the course. Courses submitted for transfer credit must have earned at least a grade of a “B-“ or better and completed the course within five years of beginning courses at AmeriTech. Transfer credit for some courses requires passing an examination. Nursing students are able to test out of general education courses by passing challenge examinations.
