Cleveland Institute of Electronics

Cleveland Institute of Electronics (CIE) is a private for-profit two-year technical institution of higher learning. Its main mission is to enable students to develop technical abilities through distance educational opportunities. It prepares students to pursue careers as skilled technicians and engineering technologists who solve various computer technology and electronic engineering problems. The institute seeks to increase the productivity level among students, enhance employment opportunities, and enable students to regain the necessary skills that have become outdated. All programs are created with input from academic and industry professionals to make sure they are high quality, relevant, and rigorous. CIE consistently updates its curricula to keep up-to-date with the current trends, methods, and practices in the workplace.

Cleveland Institute of Electronics implements its patented innovative Auto-Programmed instructional approach, that enables students learn aspects of electronics one-step at a time. Students are able to study at their own pace and CIE offers a generous amount of time for completion of courses. The courses are developed around core subject areas and provide instruction about basic computer and electronic theories. The programs also feature hands-on training with patented lesson plans and laboratory equipment that students use in their homes. The programs are intended to meet the electronics and computer technology learning needs of a diversity of students, from those seeking an individual course to gain basic skills to those who wish to pursue a bachelor degree.

All courses at CIE are offered completely online and the curricula are modified depending on the needs of the student. Students are able to tailor their education to meet their specific career goals. Students are able to order all course materials including textbooks, CDs, and DVDs online and the items will be shipped directly to the student’s home. Online courses are delivered in an asynchronous format that features interactive communication among students and instructors, video presentations, and option lesson grading through mail, fax, and e-grading. Students are able to take examination online through the e-grade website that is available anytime. The examinations are generally graded and sent back within a 24-hour period.

The faculty and staff at CIE are dedicated to providing independent study educational opportunities that serve as an alternative or enhancement to traditional college education. This educational approach enables students to maintain other professional and personal obligations while pursuing their training. Instructors are committed to helping students succeed and they keep regular online office hours thorough a specialized instructor chat room. Cleveland Institute of Electronics offers associate and bachelor degrees and several diplomas and certificates in electronics and computer technology. The programs include computer information technology and systems management, software engineering, computer information systems, broadcast engineering, industrial electronics, computer programming, home automation installation, wireless and electronic communications, and electronic engineering technology.

Cleveland Institute of Electronics offers various educational resources and student services to enable students to get the most out of their education. The CIE Bookstore catalog enables students to purchase optional laboratory equipment, study aides, and various other items. Students also have access to the online school newspaper, employment assistance including an official letter of recommendation to present to employers, and membership to an honor society and other professional associations.
