Globe University/Minnesota School of Business (GU/MSB) are private for-profit institutions of higher education that focus on career training programs in business, information technology, health science, creative media, and legal science fields. The institution focuses on the success of students and helping them reach their professional and personal goals. It is committed to small class sizes, highly qualified faculty, a hands-on learning approach, and individualized attention. It maintains strong relationships with the industry and business fields to provide students with the most up-to-date career training.

Globe University/Minnesota School of Business offers about 40 diploma and certificate programs as well as associate, bachelor, and master degree programs. All programs are developed in union with an advisory board made up of employers and industry professionals and instructors and alumni to identify the necessary abilities for success in the industry. The skills are then implemented into all courses to make sure students are prepared to success.

Globe University/Minnesota School of Business offers an online college program to meet the needs of busy students. Various programs are offered completely online and others are a combination of campus and online components. Programs include business administration, business management, management, accounting, health fitness management, cosmetology business, criminal justice, transportation business, sales and marketing, RN to BSN, paralegal, media business, information technology, health care management, and health fitness specialist.

Online courses are flexible and accessible at any time and the efficient college model enables students to finish their program in less time. All students enrolled in online courses are required to complete an online course orientation before logging in to a course. Online courses are delivered through the Blackboard course management system and it enables students easy access to lectures and assignments and effective interaction with instructors and classmates through threaded discussion boards, instant messages, and student email.

GU/MSB provides academic and technical support to promote the success of online students. It offers virtual tours of the Blackboard system, online library resources, virtual bookstore, online help desk for technical issues, and Smarthinking online tutoring services that is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. My Campus student portal enables students to register for classes, view schedules, view grades, view student accounts, and program requirements.

Globe University and Minnesota School of Business were two of the first business schools in the state of Minnesota. Professor Alexander R. Archibald founded the Minnesota School of Business in 1877. Frank A. Maron founded Globe College in 1885. Charles T. Richard and Grove A. Gruman purchased the Minnesota School of Business in 1890. From 1929 to 1988, the ownership of the Minnesota School of Business changed three times with Terry Myhre acquiring the school in 1988. Helmer Myhre and Terry Myhre acquired Globe College in 1972. Globe College became Globe University in 2007.

The Terry and Kaye Myhre family now cooperatively own Globe University and Minnesota School of Business. Currently, the schools educate approximately 10,000 students at ten campuses and online.

Accreditation

The Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) accredits Globe University/Minnesota School of Business to grant diplomas, certificates, associate degrees, bachelor degrees, and master degrees.

Financing Options

Globe University/Minnesota School of Business participates in various sources of financial aid such as grants and loans. The sources include the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), Federal Pell Grant, Federal Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS), Federal Direct Stafford Subsidized Loan, Federal Direct Stafford Unsubsidized Loan, Veterans’ Affairs Benefits, American Indian College Fund, Minnesota State Grant, Minnesota Student Educational Loan Fund (SELF), Minnesota Post-Secondary Child Care Grant. The financial aid office also works with students to develop individualized payment plans.

Credit Earning Options

Globe University/Minnesota School of Business accepts previous college coursework from an accredited postsecondary institution. It conducts a Transfer of Credit assessment with the following requirements: all transfer coursework much have been completed with at least a grade of a C- at the college level of 100/1000 or higher, at least 25% of the total undergraduate program credits must be awarded by GU/MSB, courses that are not equivalent to course offerings at GU/MSB may be granted liberal arts credits, and decision are based on current curricula and programs. GU/MSB also granted credit for prior learning experiences outside the traditional academic environment such as professional training, licenses, CLEP examinations, AP examinations, DANTES examinations, and coursework earned at a non-transferable institution. Additionally, students must gain credit for professional work experience in military, business, industry, service, and professional organizations. Students seeking any type of credit must submit official transcripts, course descriptions, and supporting information.
