Post University is a private, non-profit institution of higher education that grants associate, baccalaureate, and master degrees in a variety of academic programs such as business, health, information technology, and social services. The school also offers certificate programs that can be partnered with an associate or bachelor degree.

Post University is dedicated to preparing students to establish the connection between becoming an academic scholar and an effective leader. Post University is currently Connecticut’s largest provider of online education. The online division offers online accelerated degree programs where you can earn your degree in as little as 18 months. The online degree programs’ curricula are the same high-quality accredited curricula as the programs offered on-campus. The accelerated online degree programs and professional certificated are specially intended for busy adults who desire to pursue higher education to advance in their careers while remaining committed to work, family, and other aspects of their lives. The online courses are very flexible and conveniently fit into any schedule. You can also begin your education at any time because the school has six scheduled eight-week course schedules throughout the year.

In 2009, Post University Online was ranked by Online Education Database (OEDb) in the Top 20 Nationally for the third straight year. In May 2009, the online division celebrated its first graduating class of online Master of Business Administration students.

Post University was founded in 1890, as a business school to support the educational and training needs of central Connecticut’s growing industries. The school was named Post’s Waterbury Business College in 1896 after Harry C. Post became the principal. In 1939, the college expanded its mission and changed the name to Post Junior College. The first off-campus site was founded in 1970 in Meriden, Connecticut. The school’s name was changed to Post College in 1976 when it became a four-year higher education institution. In 1990, the school affiliated with Teikyo University in Japan and became Teikyo Post University. In 2004, the control of Teikyo Post University was transferred to a new Board of Trustees and the name was changed to Post University. In 2006, the school offered its first master degree program and established the online education program.

Post University’s campus is located in Waterbury, Connecticut, but the university offers online education to students nationwide.

Accreditation

The Commission on Institutions of Higher Education (CIHE) of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) accredits Post University. Post University is also licensed by the State of Connecticut through the Department of Higher Education (DHE).

Post University participates in many federal financing options such as Federal Pell Grant, Federal Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS), Federal Stafford Loan (Subsidized and Unsubsidized), National Smart Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (SEOG), Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG), and Federal Work-Study Program. Credit Earning Options

Post University allows up to 9 transfer credits and credits are granted on an individual basis. Alternative credit options are also available including credit for advanced placement courses, independent study, correspondence study, work experience, and training on the job. Credits are earned through examinations or portfolios. There are standard examinations and university examinations. The standard examinations are the College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) and Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Educational Services (DANTES). Credits can also be earned through Cooperative education opportunities.
