Quinnipiac University is a private non-profit nonsectarian university in Hamden, Connecticut. Quinnipiac University offers over 70 programs at the certificate, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree levels. Quinnipiac University Online offers programs that are flexible and convenient. Online faculty is committed to providing excellent support to help students succeed in the online learning environment. Online degree programs are offered at the master’s degree level in areas such as business administration, information technology, health science, interactive communications, organizational leadership, teacher leadership, and occupational therapy. Online certificate programs in biology, occupational therapy, mathematics, and sexual assault/forensic nurse examiner are also available. Additionally, many undergraduate courses are available in the online format. Online courses are delivered asynchronously through the Blackboard course management system. Students are able to submit course work and participate in discussions with instructors and fellow students when it is convenient to their schedules. The Blackboard learning environment enables students to download the course syllabus, reading materials, and assignments; download and view presentations and videos; submit assignments; ready and share comments in discussion forums; take quizzes and tests; and send and receive email from the instructor and classmates. Numerous online courses feature multimedia presentations that support important concepts. Courses also often feature Microsoft Office programs such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. All courses require students to participate in discussions on a regular basis.

Quinnipiac University was founded in 1929 as the Connecticut College of Commerce that focused on business education. The college changed its name to Quinnipiac College in 1951 and it soon after moved to a new campus. The college became Quinnipiac University in 2000 to better demonstrate the institution’s quality and diversity of its academic programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Throughout its history, the university has experienced significant and steady growth and its original focus on business expanded to include programs in education, health sciences, law, nursing, communications, and arts and sciences. Today, Quinnipiac University educates approximately 6,000 undergraduate students and 2,000 graduate and law students.

Quinnipiac University offers a variety of scholarships to help students pay for tuition and fees. The university also accepts various state scholarships and outside scholarships.

Financing Options

Quinnipiac University participates in numerous financial aid programs such as the Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), Federal Direct Stafford Subsidized Loan, Federal Direct Stafford Unsubsidized Loan, Federal Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students, Federal Perkins Loan, Federal Work Study, Veterans Benefits, and tuition exchange benefits. The university also accepts private student loans and it offers an interest-free payment plan.

Credit Earning Options

Quinnipiac University grants credits for previously completed coursework with a grade of a C or better and completed within the past 10 years from another regionally accredited college or university. The university also grants credits for examination programs such as the College Level Examination Program (CLEP), Advancement Placement (AP) Program, or International Baccalaureate (IB). Students who have completed courses at a non-degree granting institution or has extensive experience in a particular area may request comprehensive examinations. Students seeking transfer credit are required to submit official transcripts from all previously attended institutions of higher learning.
