Saint Leo University is a private, not-for-profit Roman Catholic university that focuses on liberal arts and is committed to providing a well-rounded academic experience to prepare students of all faiths to lead rewarding careers and make a difference in the world. The Center for Online Learning at Saint Leo University is nationally recognized as a leader in online education. It provides education to students in more than 33 countries around the world. It enables students to set their own weekly schedule and attend courses at their convenience from any device with Internet access. Students are assigned their own academic advisors to provide guidance throughout programs. The online learning environment is delivered using the e-Lion virtual classroom and it includes various features to make online learning simple and promote student success. The Center for Online Learning offers a variety of online degree programs at the associate and bachelor degree levels including business administration, health care management, psychology, liberal arts, criminal justice, human resource management, and computer information systems. It also offers minors in accounting, human resource management, management, and criminal justice.

Monks from Saint Vincent Archabbey in Latrobe, Pennsylvania founded Saint Leo University as Saint Leo College in Florida in 1889. It was Florida’s first Catholic college and it awarded its first degree, Master of Accounts, in 1893. In 1920, the college began to focus on English and it was granted accreditation in 1921. Throughout the 1920s the college went through various name changes and became Saint Leo College Preparatory School from 1929 to 1964. It gained accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in 1967. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Saint Leo broadened its focus to include military training. It offered its first MBA degrees in 1994. The college became Saint Leo University in 1999 and launched the Center for Online Learning. Today, Saint Leo University offers over 40 degree and certificate programs to more than 16,000 students and it is one of the country’s biggest educators of military service members.

Schools of Education

The School of Arts and Sciences is committed to providing students with broad education that helps them build a solid foundation for independent and critical thinking. The school offers approximately 34 programs in various areas such as physical sciences, humanities, social and behavioral sciences, and fine and performing arts.

The School of Business is the largest Catholic business school in the U.S. It focuses on value-based education with qualified faculty members that are dedicated to providing relationship-centered teaching and excellent coursework to promote the development of a firm liberal arts foundation. It offers various undergraduate and graduate programs thorough its 17 learning centers.

The School of Education and Social Services offers various programs that are intended to prepare students for service careers in many different fields such as social work, education, human services, and criminal justice. It focuses on assisting students with making a difference in building communities that are strong, caring, and responsive.

Scholarships Offered

Saint Leo University offers three scholarships: B. Davis Scholarships, Abbott & Fenner Business Consultants Scholarship, and Frederick W and Grace P. Brecht Scholarship. It also accepts scholarships from private sources.

Financing Options

Saint Leo University accepts majority of federal financial aid programs including Federal Pell Grant, National SMART Grant, Academic Competitiveness Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, Federal Stafford Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans, Federal Parent PLUS Loan, Federal Graduate PLUS Loan, and Federal Work Study. It accepts state aid programs from the states of Florida and Georgia. Saint Leo University also offers payment plans to enable students to pay tuition costs in various installments for a small nonrefundable fee.

Credit Earning Options

Saint Leo University recognizes transfer credits from other institutions that are regionally accredited. Students are able to transfer up to 64 credits for Associate of Arts degrees and credits for other degrees are evaluated on an individual basis. The university may grant a maximum of 39 credits for military courses and training. A maximum of 24 credits can be granted from career training. Saint Leo University also awards up to 30 credits for standardized examinations with acceptable scores including CLEP, DANTES, Excelsior, Advanced Placement, and GED College Level Examinations.
