Sullivan University is a private for-profit university and is the largest private higher learning institution in the state of Kentucky. It is known as one of the country’s leading career-focused institutions. Sullivan University Global e-Learning offers numerous programs entirely online to enable busy working adults to complete their education. It provides high quality online degree programs at the certificate, diploma, associate, bachelor, master, and doctoral degree levels. Programs including medical coding, conflict management, early childhood education, justice and public safety, nursing, management, hospitality management, interdisciplinary studies, human resource leadership, business administration, and information technology management. Additionally, students can complete online courses on an individual basis.

The Global e-Learning programs are designed to enable students to gain thorough education at a fast pace and quickly enter the workforce. Students can complete their associate degree programs in as little as 18 months. Global e-learning also enables students to smoothly transition from associate to bachelor to master degrees. A.O. Sullivan and A.R. Sullivan founded Sullivan University as Sullivan Business College in 1962. The college was authorized to offer associate degrees in 1972. In 1973, it merged with Bryant and Stratton Business College and in 1979 it became the first private career college in the southern region to receive accreditation from the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Throughout the 1980s the college continued to expand and it added bachelor degree programs in 1990. It was authorized to grant master degrees in 1997 and in 1999 it launched its e-learning system. The college changed its name to Sullivan University in 2000 and was authorized to grant doctoral degrees in 2008.

Accreditation

The Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools accredits Sullivan University to grant associate, bachelor, master, and doctorate degrees.

Financing Options

Sullivan University is committed to helping students finance their education. It participates in various grant programs such as Federal Pell Grants, Federal Supplemental Opportunity Educational Grants, Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG), National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant (SMART), Sullivan Institutional Grants, College Access Program Grants, and Kentucky Tuition Grant. It also accepts various types of student loans including Federal Perkins Loans, Federal Subsidized Stafford Loans, Federal Unsubsidized Stafford Loans, Federal PLUS Loans, and Career Education Funds. Furthermore, Sullivan University accepts Veterans Benefits and participates in the Federal Work Study program.

Credit Earning Options

Sullivan University grants credit for coursework completed at another accredited institution. Some programs enable students to transfer up to 75% of the total credits for an undergraduate degree. Graduate students may be awarded transfer credits for 25% of their program and all transfer courses for graduate programs must have a grade of a B or better. Credit may also be granted for military educational credits and examinations such as College Level Examination Program (CLEP), DANTES/DSST, Excelsior, and American Council on Education (ACE) examinations. All students seeking transfer credits must submit official transcripts, course descriptions, a portfolio assessment, and any other supporting documents.
