Creighton University

Creighton University Online offers online programs to help busy students achieve their educational and spiritual goals. The programs maintain the university’s approach to create passion for learning and making a difference in the world. Students are able to access coursework anytime from anywhere with an Internet connection. The online classrooms are easy to use and promote communication and collaboration with instructors and fellow classmates through virtual meetings and online discussion forums. Online classrooms also feature a small instructor to student ratio to ensure all students receive individual attention. Online students also have access to technical support that is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Online programs are offered at the graduate level in various areas including information technology management, negotiation and dispute resolution, security analysis and portfolio management, health care ethics, and education leadership.

Creighton University was founded in 1878 in memory of Edward Creighton. The first bachelor’s degree was awarded in 1891 and the first master’s degree in 1893. In the early 1900s, the school continued to expand adding new programs and opening new divisions. The Summer Sessions division was established in 1969. In 1995, the university initiated the first clinical doctoral program in occupational therapy in the country. Today, Creighton University enrolls more than 7,000 students from 41 countries.

Financing Options

Creighton University participates in many different financial aid programs including grants, loans, and work-study. Examples of financial aid options include the Federal Pell Grant, Federal Direct Stafford Subsidized Loan, Federal Direct Stafford Unsubsidized Loan, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), Federal Perkins Loan, Nebraska State Grant Program, Creighton University Grant, Federal Direct PLUS Loans, and Federal Work Study. The university also accepts alternative loans and offers a monthly installment payment plan.

Credit Earning Options

Creighton University grants credit for transfer courses completed at another accredited college or university. All courses must have a grade of a C or better and a maximum of 80 credit hours can be transfer credits towards a particular program. The university also grants credit for College Level Examination Program (CLEP), Advanced Placement (AP), and International Baccalaureate (IB) programs. Students seeking any type of transfer credit are required to submit official transcripts and other supporting documents such as exam scores and course descriptions.
