Westwood College, originally known as the Denver Institute of Technology, was established in 1953 in Denver, Colorado. Several years later, as the school expanded into other areas, the name was changed. Currently, Westwood College is a part of Alta Colleges, Inc, an organization of higher education institutions. There are currently 17 Westwood College campuses in six states: California, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Texas, and Virginia with over 15,000 students and 20,000 alumni. The college ranked ninth in the Online Education Database (OEDb)’s 2008 Online College Rankings.

Currently, Westwood College is nationally accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT) or the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS).

Schools of Education

The School of Business provides a broad range of disciplines and industries such as business administration, business management, fashion merchandising, healthcare management, and Hotel and Restaurant Management. The business courses are taught by professionals in the industry that provide instruction on the latest and emerging business trends. The school provides real-world training at the bachelor and master degree level.

The School of Design offers a constructive and professional setting where you can learn practical skills for your chosen career within the multi-faceted design industry. The school provides programs that are challenging, interesting, and engaging in many areas such as animation, game art, graphic design, interior design, and web design.

The School of Industrial Service offers programs in automotive technology and surveying. The curricula focus on hand-on career focused instruction. The school is intended for mechanically-inclined students who enjoy working with their hands. Scholarships Offered

Westwood College provides a High School Scholarship Program that is designed to acknowledge motivated high school seniors and encourage them to pursue career-focused education. Outside scholarships may also be available.
